To Whom It May Concern:
In 1996 we purchased a lot in Pinewild with speculation of a 2003 retirement. That was the beginning of searches for the “dream” floor plan for our home. We finally decided on a desired exterior elevation for the house before zeroing in on an actual floor plan. We had almost decided on a builder and were going to do preliminary plans, but we decided to talk with the Bonvilles because they were working on a house for long time friends. In our first meeting, we learned more about the home building process, materials, architectural plans, time lines and costs than we had ever imagined. On the advice of Bonvilles, we bought a complete set of our “magazine” plans. John McFay was then able to make the one time changes to those plans to make the design just what we wanted. Subsequently, the building contract went to Bonville Construction.
During that time of preliminary drawings, we had the option for retirement earlier than we had first planned. We sold our home, rented a home here, and the building began. The learning curve started again as we met with subcontractors and made the choices necessary for them to do their job. Those contractors also became our friends as we not only watched them practice their trade, we were able to get to know them, and listen to them for advice and ideas.
During the process, Carol kept a detailed picture diary of the building process, sequence, and people. Because we were so pleased with the home, we presented a duplicate album for John McFay and George and Ken Bonville as well as the subcontractors, as our “thank you” for a job well done. We hope that album can also serve as a visual letter of recommendation to anyone interested in a Bonville-Built residence.
